Ann T. (Peppard) Belason, of Weston MA since 1985, formerly of Wilmington for 20 years, and previously of West Newton, passed peacefully on December 26th at age 87. Beloved wife of E. Bruce Belason for 63 years, and cherished mother of Maryann M. Belason of Wilmington and Thomas E. Belason and wife Tasha of Holliston. Ann was also the cherished grandmother of Finn and Cassidy Belason. Ann also leaves behind her sister, Mary Faith Selleck of Portland, CT, several nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Ann was born and raised in West Newton and pre-deceased by her parents, Thomas and Mary (McMullen) Peppard of Parmenter Rd, who were Newton natives. Ann, a dedicated and multi-award-winning student, graduated from Newton H.S. in 1955. Ann earned an RN from MGH School of Nursing in 1958, then a Bachelor of nursing from Boston College in 1961. While at MGH she met Bruce at a mixer at M.I.T where he was a graduate student.
Ann worked as a night supervisor on Bulfinch at MGH. She later taught nursing at Lowell General and Melrose-Wakefield Hospitals. She then retired from nursing and with Bruce raised their children and cared for their respective parents. Ann served on Weston Drama Workshop's Board for over 20 years, and had a season of performances dedicated to her. She was an ice skater, an accomplished pianist, and enjoyed handicrafts and reading and writing poetry.
Visiting hours will be at the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home in W. Newton from 2-5 pm on Sunday Dec. 29th . A funeral mass will be held Monday Dec. 30th at 10am at St. Julia's Church in Weston.
