Obituary

Caggiano, Ann, of Newton and Scituate, passed away on November 18, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 95.

Ann was born and raised in the North End of Boston, the daughter of the late Angelo and Emma Pagliuca. The proud child of immigrant parents, she graduated from Girls' Latin School and went on to become the first in her family to attend college at Boston University.

Together with her late husband Tony, she built a beautiful life in Newton, where they raised their three children. The family cherished their summers on Peggotty Beach in Scituate. Ann also took great pride in her work at Newton North High School, where she dedicated more than 20 years to the Career Guidance Center, offering guidance and support to countless students as they prepared for their futures.

Ann was a woman of many talents and hobbies, including gardening, cooking, baking, jewelry making, needlepoint, and knitting. Every family member treasures multiple pairs of her handmade "Nana socks," each one crafted with love.

Ann is survived by her children and their spouses: Robert Caggiano and wife, May Ann Harper of Newton; Stephen Caggiano and wife, Deborah of Millis; and Lynda Caggiano and husband, Alessandro Mattei of Newton. She deeply loved—and always lovingly spoiled—her five grandchildren: Lauren O'Malley and husband, Mike of Walpole; Michael Caggiano and wife, Carrie of Needham; Nicholas Caggiano and wife, Catherine Jordan-La Rosa of Newton; Samuel Caggiano of Newton; and Emily Caggiano of Cumberland, RI. One of her greatest joys was being "Big Nana" to her five great-grandchildren, who were blessed to have known her: Emma and Connor O'Malley, Remy and Albie Caggiano, and Lydia Caggiano. She is also survived by her two adored nieces, Norma McGowan and Susan Nicolai and great nephews, Brian McGowan and wife, Tracey and Steven McGowan and Dawn Marie.

Ann's family thank you for your outpouring of love and support. Services will be held Tuesday November 25 at Burke & Blackington Funeral home in West Newton, followed by a funeral Mass at St Bernard's Church in West Newton. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Ann Caggiano  may be made to the Massachusetts General Brigham Cancer Institute, fund GR1002259.
