AnnLee Vachon

AnnLee (Mitchell) Vachon, a lifelong resident of Newton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026. She was born in Boston on October 3, 1932. Throughout her life in Newton, AnnLee cherished her family, cultivated deep and lasting friendships, and found many ways to contribute to her community.

AnnLee was educated at Boston College’s School of Nursing, where she developed a lifelong passion for helping others. After raising her children, she worked at Newton Country Day School and later shared her creativity and talents by teaching a wide variety of craft classes through Newton Community Schools.

A woman of many interests and talents, AnnLee was an active member of several local organizations, including the Newton Camera Club, the Quinobequin Quilters, the West Suburban YMCA, and the Newton Art Association. She especially treasured the friendships she formed with her neighbors on Prescott Street and, in later years, with the young families on Warren Street. These connections brought her great happiness and were an important part of her life.

AnnLee was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Peter L. Vachon, and her son-in-law, Richard Conboy. She is survived by her children, Annmarie Carey and her husband, Edward; Lee Calderone and her husband, Keith; Margo Vachon; Petra Conboy; Linus Vachon and his wife, Karen; and Sandy Sullivan and her husband, Tom. She found immense joy in her role as grandmother to ten grandchildren and their spouses, and as great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren.

In remembrance of AnnLee, donations may be made to the Boston College Connell School of Nursing Scholarship Fund, c/o Cadigan Alumni Center, 140 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill, MA 02467, or online through Boston College.

The Vachon family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mark Weinfeld, the MGB Primary Care Clinic in Wellesley, Peace of Mind Home Health Care, and Good Shepherd Community Care for their compassionate support and care.

Visitation and services will take place at Newton Cemetery Chapel on Saturday, October 3. Friends and family are invited to gather for calling hours from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., with a service to follow at 2:30 p.m.Burial will be private.
