Betty A. Mallon, age 96, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024.
Betty was born on August 28, 1927 in Bronx, New York to the late Ernest and Agnes (Wiss) Nasman. She is preceded in death by her husband, (Joseph) Gordon, and their infant daughter, Patricia. She is survived by her son, David Mallon and his wife, Ronnie, of Brewster, Massachusetts; Marylou Frawley and her husband, Bill, of Appleton, Wisconsin; Jackie Segall and her husband, Peter, of Wellesley, Massachusetts. Betty cherished her 6 grandchildren: Philip Mallon and his wife Catrina; Patrick Frawley and his wife Lauren Jamron; Caitlin Frawley and her partner David Miller; Andrew, David, and Madeline Segall; and her 2 great granddaughters Kira and Freya Mallon; many Georgia and North Carolina nieces and nephews; and Irish cousins.
She graduated from Huntington High School, NY and attended Hofstra University, Brookdale University and Monmouth University. She was an accounting and finance enthusiast.
Betty was a dedicated home gardener and Past President of the Fair Haven Garden Club - she was especially proud of her work on the Harding Bird Sanctuary. Her love of 'beach time' began at an early age at Huntington Beach Community Association in Centerport, Long Island and continued with family and friends at Peninsula House and Ship Ahoy Beach Clubs in Sea Bright, NJ.
Betty was an avid traveler, circling the world on trips with Gordon. Together they resided in Den Haag, Netherlands for a year and she continued her passion for travel into her 80's. While living in Holland, she was a member of The American Women's Club of The Hague.
Betty was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Rumson having served as a Sunday School educator, Session member, Church Elder, Treasurer and Historical Committee chair.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on October 12 @ 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church Rumson, 4 East River Road, Rumson, NJ; a reception will follow in Wilson Hall.
