Obituary

Caleb Pauli Taft, 43, of Medfield passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2026. Born in Boston and raised in Medfield, MA Caleb, graduated from SUNY Albany with a BA in Communication and Business and Wentworth Institute of Technology with a degree in Project Management. As part of his undergrad he did a semester abroad in Galway, Ireland where he made lifelong friends.

He had a 16-year career with Hilti Inc as a regional key account manager. He also maintained a lifelong passion for building and design, which he pursued with freelance work as a mason. Caleb will be remembered for his larger than life personality, his ability to engage everyone around him and his big tender heart. Voted funniest guy in his senior class, Caleb will be best remembered for his outstanding sense of humor, quick wit, his knack for imitating accents and spot on impressions. He lit up every room he walked into, but cared just as much about all the people who were in it.

He had a great love of the outdoors, enjoying everything from hiking to snowboarding, but his great passion was for saltwater fishing. He was also a great lover of travel, and enjoyed exploring new countries and cultures, especially the food. He was a true foodie and could appreciate fine cuisine as well as street food.

The greatest joy in Caleb’s life were his two children, James, 12 and Holly, 10. He loved taking them fishing at Forge Pond, jumping at the Trampolines at Altitude and watching scary movies together. He adored cheering from the side lines for Holly’s lacrosse matches and gymnastic meets and James’s flag football and basketball games. They spent many long summer days on the beach at the Cape or up in Maine, swimming, playing and spending time with family.

Caleb is survived by his children James and Holly, and his former wife Beth; his parents Christine and Roderic Taft; his sister Jillian Taft, her husband Livio Pochetti and their son Leonardo; as well as his large extended family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 15th at 2:00pm at Wellesley Village Church on 2 Central Street in Wellesley, MA. Donations in Caleb’s memory may be made to  Hope House Boston and the Association to Preserve Cape Cod .
