Obituary

Carolyn Marie Kelley (Buonato), age 92, of West Newton, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Stone Rehabilitation and Senior Living in Newton Upper Falls.

Born in Dorchester, MA, she moved to Newton Centre in her early years, and made many close friends in the Thompsonville area. She was a 1950 graduate of Newton High School and raised her family in West Newton. She worked for 36 years in the Boston College Law School campus mailroom in Newton, retiring in 2012.

Carol loved spending time with her family, caring friends and neighbors. She showed compassion and was always available to lend a helping hand to everyone. She loved entertaining, especially during holidays, birthdays, and special occasions. She loved following Boston sports, especially the Red Sox and the Bruins. Carol enjoyed playing Bingo, taking day trips, going to Hampton Beach and Cape Cod, and cooking, especially her well known delicious pasta gravy and meatballs. She enjoyed listening and dancing to "big band" music. Her smile and quick wit will truly be missed.

Beloved wife of the late Laurence E. Kelley, who passed in 2014; Dear daughter of the late Edward W. and Mildred C. (Dattalo) Buonato; Loving sister of the late Nicholas G. of Westwood, Edward W. Jr. of Newton, and Robert L. Buonato, of Weston; Devoted mother to Maria A. Guyer and her husband James of Northborough, and Lawrence E. Kelley and his wife Janet of North Easton; Lovingly remembered by her Dear grandchildren Christopher J. Guyer and his wife Jessica of Framingham, Dr. Kimberly M. Guyer, DVM and her husband Kyle Leary of Boonton, New Jersey, Lawrence M. Kelley of North Easton, and her Dear goddaughter Lucy Graziano of Arlington; many nieces and nephews, close friends and neighbors. Carol was predeceased by her loving cousin Carmela DiParisi of New Providence, New Jersey. Carol leaves behind her close friends from Newton Bertha Angelone D'Ercole, Marie Lewis, Teresa Santangelo and Jean Nugent. She will be missed by her beloved cat, Little Kitty.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Stone Rehabilitation and Senior Living for all the love and care shown to her while residing there. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the viewing at the Burke and Blackington Funeral home at 1479 Washington Street, West Newton, MA on Monday, December 2 nd from 9:00-10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Corpus Christi - St. Bernard's Church at 1523 Washington Street, West Newton, on Monday, December 2 nd at 10:00 am, followed by burial at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut Street, Newton.
