Catherine Fredericks Becker

Catherine Fredericks Becker, 96, of Vienna, Virginia died unexpectedly at her assisted living facility in Newton, Massachusetts on July 26, 2026.

Cathy was born on April 4th , 1930 in New York City. She attended City College in New York and worked as a buyer for a department store in Manhattan. She was married to Robert Becker and they had two daughters. They met in New York City, moving after they were married to Washington, D.C., and then rural upstate New York, and back to the Washington area, settling into their home of over fifty years in Vienna, Virginia.

She was a devoted homemaker and a member of the Vienna Woman’s Club. She enjoyed time with her family, the company of her dog Nutmeg and cat Maurie, and watching old movies.

She was survived by her husband, Robert Becker, and their two children, Lesley Becker of Burlington, Vermont and Barbara Maietta (Chris Maietta) of Wayland, Massachusetts; and five grandchildren, Ceora Jaffe (Kevin Junker) of Arlington, Massachusetts, Hailley Becker of Portland, Oregon, Sarah Maietta (Nico Robertson) of Watertown, Massachusetts, Kate Maietta of New Haven, Connecticut, and Christopher Maietta of Wayland, Massachusetts, and a great-grandchild, Olivia Elizabeth Jaffe. She was predeceased by her sisters Ann Schwarz and Nora Kinlen, and brother William Fredericks.

A memorial gathering was held at Burke and Blackington Funeral Home in Newton on July 28th .
