Claudia
Mccue
November 6, 1944 – February 17, 2026
Claudia Anne (Fleming) McCue, 81, of Newton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving children, held in their arms.
Born on November 6, 1944, in Newton, Claudia was an extraordinarily hardworking and devoted mother who provided for her family with strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment. She is survived by her three children, Matthew McCue and his wife, Natalie of Fairfield, Connecticut; Brendan McCue and his wife, Ellen of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Meaghan Ianthe (McCue) Janaitis and her husband, Jonathan Janaitis of Lincolnville, Maine.
She was a loving and devoted grandmother, affectionately known as "Ousie", to Kate McCue, Anderson Janaitis, Elizabeth McCue, Caroline McCue, and Sawyer Janaitis. This role was amongst the most beloved of her life, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren. Claudia especially treasured the years she spent living in Maine with her "boys".
Claudia was deeply committed to her family and held a strong love for her parents and siblings throughout her life. She was predeceased by her mother, Marie (White) Fleming; her father, Thomas Fleming; her sister, Maureen (Fleming) Lavin; her brother, Thomas "Buddy" Fleming; her sister, Geraldine (Fleming) Lavin; and her sister, Anne Marie (Fleming) LoRusso. She is survived by her sister, Clare (Fleming) Cormier and her husband, Fred Bloomberg, of Poinciana, Florida, whose steadfast love (especially during many late night and early morning calls), provided Claudia with great comfort.
Claudia also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart. The family extends special gratitude to Sandy (Lavin) Bromberg for her years of compassionate care and support during Claudia's most difficult times.
Claudia was a dedicated and compassionate nurse. She graduated from Our Lady's High School and earned her Registered Nurse degree from St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing. She went on to have a long and respected career in nursing at Waltham Weston Hospital and Faulkner Hospital, working tirelessly to care for others. When not in the operating room, Claudia enjoyed reading and had a deep love for art, antiques, history, and opera, finding joy and meaning in the stories and beauty of the world around her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, 573 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02465. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut Street, Newton, MA 02459.
Claudia will be remembered for her strength, compassion, and enduring love for her family. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
"That on earth there's only one
Who loved me so passionately. Mama,
And when life also brings me pain and suffering
Then I only think of you. It prays for me, oh Mama, your heart."
— Heintje Simons
