Constance "Connie" McCarthy (Smith) of Leominster formally of West Newton passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 1, 2025. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Det. Sgt. James J McCarthy (NPD); her sister Geraldine Curadossi (Al), brothers Wesley Smith and William Allen Smith.

Connie is survived by her five children, Sheila McGrath and her husband David of Plymouth, James McCarthy (NPD Retired) and his wife Lisa of Stoughton, Thomas McCarthy (NPD Retired) of Newton, Maureen Provencher of Leominster, Michael McCarthy (MSP Retired) and his partner Tricia O'Heir of Brockton; her brother Ronald Smith (Karen) and her sister-in-law Ann Smith (William A. Smith); her thirteen grandchildren: Colleen Richards, Katie Couture, David McGrath, Nicole Devine, James P. McCarthy, Joseph McCarthy, James J. McCarthy (NFD), Ryan McCarthy (NFD), Aiden McCarthy, Emily Provencher, Michael Provencher (FPD), Michaela McCarthy, Caitlin McCarthy. She is also survived by her fourteen loving great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 6, 2025 at 10:30AM in Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Newton, followed by interment in Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2-5PM at the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, West Newton.
