David Wellington Martin, of Natick died December 6, 2017 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of 57 years of Carol (Temperley) and loving father of Clifford Martin and wife Jodi of Taunton, David C. Martin of Natick and Barbara Martin Simmons and husband John of Niantic, CT. He was the dear brother of the late Leslie and Robert Martin and is also survived by 4 treasured grandchildren Daniel, Jacob, Caleigh and Caroline. Mr. Martin was a graduate of Newton High Trade School class of 1955 and worked in printing before he joined the Newton Police Force. He retired after 27 years of service as a patrolman for the City of Newton. A proud veteran, Mr. Martin served in the US Army during the Korean War and is member of the American Legion Nonantum Post 440 and D.A.V. He also enjoyed membership in the Newton Elks, NRA and Hunt Club. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, December 13 at 11AM in the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St. Newton. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 3-7PM. Private burial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice
