Donald Edmond White, of Waltham, age 71, died on Thursday, July 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a long, brave battle with cancer.

Don was predeceased by his parents, Edmond and Ruth White. He grew up in West Newton where he played Little League, Pop Warner football, and Bantam hockey; these experiences fueled his lifelong passion for the Bruins, Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics.

A 1971 graduate of Newton North High School, Don then attended Newman Preparatory School for one year before going to the University of New Hampshire, where he graduated in 1976 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.

Don worked at Richard White & Sons from 1976-1992 and then again from 1995-2013. He was proud of his contributions to many noteworthy projects, including The Thomas P. O'Neill, Jr. Federal Building, Suffolk University Residence Hall, The New England Center at UNH, and the Harvard Business School dormitory renovations. Most recently, he worked for CHA Consulting.

He also loved to travel with his longtime companion, Emily Marks, of Mashpee. They recently visited Dubai, England, Ireland, and Croatia. Don had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed teasing his family any chance he could get; his friendly banter will be greatly missed at family outings and holidays.

Don was most proud of his two children, Thomas and Sarah. His greatest joy came from creating lifelong memories with them by his side. Thomas, and his wife Melanie (Maltby) have two children, Henry (5) and Charlotte (2), and Sarah and her husband, Michael Beckley, are expecting their first child in September. Don is also survived by his younger siblings, Cynthia Cuthbertson (William), Kenneth (Susan), and William, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Service will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd at Burke & Blackington Funeral Home in West Newton. Visiting hours will be from 10AM-12PM followed by a funeral service at 12PM.
