Obituary

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Edward Hickey, passed away on Jun 14, 2023, at the age of 78.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hickey of Billerica, daughter Keri (Hickey) Wetterwald and her husband, Andreas and their son, Andrew (18), daughter Katelyn (16) of Andover, MA; son Edward R. Hickey, wife Ryan (Greeley) Hickey and their children: (twins) Gavin (14) & Reese (14), Carter (12) of North Attleboro, MA and also many loving nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his twin sister Cathy (Hickey) Grant and her husband Gordon; his sister Linda (Hickey) Gaffey and her husband Jack Gaffey; his brother Shaun Hickey and his wife Carol. Edward is predeceased by his parents, brother Thomas Hickey, and nephew Michael Hickey.

Edward was born and raised in Newton, MA. He was the son of Catherine (Smith) Hickey and Thomas Hickey.

Edward was a talented football player and Captain of his team at Newton North High School. After graduation, he served in the Army Reserves and National Guard.

Edward married Linda (Lovett) Hickey, whom he met in Boston. Edward and Linda spent all their married life (53 years) in Billerica, MA, and raised two children.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors, making his backyard the central place for family and friends to come together, relax, socialize, or celebrate many memorable events such as marriages, graduations, or recurring family reunions.

Edward was a true entrepreneur along with his brothers who were in the real estate business and had an automobile dealership in Waltham, MA. Later in his career, Edward initiated a new business -Frosty's in Waltham, MA.

Edward will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, ability to listen, to provide advice, and to simply be a friend at the right time or moment.


Edward enjoyed hunting, playing golf, organizing beach vacations and attending social events as a long-standing member of the Elks Club of Billerica. He loved hearing stories about his grandchildren and their adventures.

For those who want to say a final goodbye to Ed, a memorial visitation will be held on Friday, Jun 23, from 10:30-12:30 pm in Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington Street, West Newton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
