Edward J. Mahan, a longtime resident of Newton, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the age of 80. Born in Brookline, he was the dear son of the late James and Helen (Shanley) Mahan. He is the beloved husband of 54 years of Margaret "Maggie" (McGrath), and loving father of Michael Mahan and Daniel Mahan and his wife Cheri. Devoted grandfather to Shane and Brody, he is also survived by his sister Sheila Niland of Norwood, brother and sisters in law, as well as many nieces and nephews. Edward was a proud Marine Corps veteran having served in Vietnam. He will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and fellow members of the Pvt. Charles J. Shutt Marine Corps League of Watertown.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, May 23rd from 2-5PM in the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, West Newton. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Care Dimensions Hospice, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923
