Obituary

Elizabeth (Weber) Marion Forte of Wellesley passed away November 7, 2024, at the age of 96. She was born in Kingston, NY, and was a graduate of the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Poughkeepsie, NY. Later she was selected and graduated from a special U.S. Public Health Service nursing program at the University of Pennsylvania to provide for nurses for WWII. She was a public health nurse, first working for Rockland County, NY, and then the Utica City Health Department in New York. Her work took her from the shores of the Hudson River to the foothills of Catskills to central New York where she provided public health services to underserved populations.

In 1952, she married Michael P. Forte of Kingston, NY. The Fortes moved to Wellesley in 1961 where Mrs. Forte worked for 34 years for the City of Newton Health Department as a public health nurse, retiring at the age of 81. Mayor David Cohen at the time recognized her services with a special award and named a day after her.

Mrs. Forte was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Michael P. Forte. She is survived by her children, Dr. Katherine (Forte) Sargent and her husband Dr. Dennis Sargent of Whittier CA, Elizabeth Ann (Forte) Nahill and her husband Dr. Robert Nahill of Plymouth, Michael P. Forte Jr, and Kathy Hearn Richard of Weston, Christine (Forte) Geoghegan and her husband Paul Geoghegan of Merrimac, MA, John Forte and Corinne Levesque of Framingham, and David Forte and his wife Robin of Bells TX. Mrs. Forte was predeceased by her brother John Weber of Boca Raton FL.

She will be remembered by her grandchildren Rachel and David Sargent, Elizabeth (Nahill) Rabinovich, Rebecca (Nahill) Sirianni, Benjamin Nahill, Anna and Christopher Forte, Eileen (Geoghegan) Zuckerman. Johanna (Geoghegan) Godin, Jacqueline (Forte) Iodice, Lauren (Forte) Wilson, and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 on Monday, November 18 at St. Paul Church, 502 Washington St., Wellesley, MA, followed by interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne MA at 1:30. Visiting hours will be from 2-5, Sunday, November 17 at the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St., Wellesley.
