Gary Koger passed away peacefully at home in Weston with his family at his side on May 11, 2025. He was born in Bridgeport, CT on July 8, 1937 to Jane Carlson and Glenn Koger and grew up there and in Villanova, PA. He attended the Haverford School, Princeton University, and MIT where he received Master's Degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Industrial Management (Sloan School). He then spent his entire career working at Arthur D. Little Inc., in Cambridge where he helped develop Sonar Underwater Tracking Ranges for the Navy and enjoyed his business trips to the Bahamas and Hawaii.
After he retired, he kept his mathematically detailed mind busy for 21 years as the Chair of the Board of Assessors in Weston.
His hobbies spanned from the collecting and detailed cataloging of Japanese artifacts and scientific instruments, to hiking and canoeing and sharing his love of the national parks on trips with his grandchildren.
Gary is survived by Barry Whelan, his high school sweetheart and wife of 65 years, their sons Mark, John (Mary) and Robert (Joyce), and 3 grandchildren, Andrew, Ben (Ellen) and Libby, as well as his sister Karin Cook.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 27 in the Burke Funeral Home, Wellesley. Visiting hour will begin at 10:00 AM followed by a service and remembrances at 11:00 AM with a burial at Linwood Cemetery in Weston directly after.
