Jean M. Abbruzzese (Petipas) of Marshfield, formerly of Newton, passed away December 17, 2024 at the
age of 88. Born and raised in Newton, she was a graduate of Newton High School. Jean worked as a
cafeteria aide for the Needham and Newton Public Schools for many years. The beloved wife of 56 years
to the late William R. Abbruzzese, the couple remained in Newton until their retirement to their summer
home in Brant Rock.

Jean was the loving mother of Denise Johnson, Michael Abbruzzese and his wife Polly, and mother-in-
law to Ketih Johnson. She was the devoted grandmother of Ryan, Kyle, Michael, Jared and Nicole and
dear sister of Richard Petipas and his wife Judy, and Maureen Sulivan and her late husband Donald. She
is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 23, 2024 at 9AM in Corpus Christi- St.
Bernard Parish, West Newton followed by interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham. Visiting hours
will be Sunday from 2-5PM in the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, West Newton.
