Obituary

Jeremiah Fisher Jefferson, 46, of Framingham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2026. Born on October 28, 1979, he was the beloved son of Richard and Helen (Fisher). Jeremiah grew up in Newton, Massachusetts, with his brother, Ashley. He was surrounded by family, faith, and a community that shaped the generous, joyful man he became.

Jeremiah shared a devoted and joy-filled life with his wife, Michele, whom he met while they were both students at Fairfield University. As proud “Stagmates”, their friendship quickly deepened into a lifelong partnership built on love, laughter, and unwavering support. They married on June 7, 2008, and together raised two cherished children, Matteo Peter (15) and Angelina Marie (12), who were the heart of Jeremiah’s world. His children were his greatest joy, and he poured his whole self into being the kind of father who showed up, listened, and loved without condition.

Jeremiah graduated from Newton North High School in 1998, where he was a multisport athlete who excelled in football, baseball, wrestling, swimming & diving, and track & field. His passion for football continued at Fairfield University, where he played throughout college while earning his Bachelor of Communications in 2002. For nearly fifteen years, Jeremiah dedicated his professional life to Boston College, where he was known for his compassion, integrity, and commitment to helping others. He began his career in the Financial Aid Office, guiding students and families with patience and care. His passion for service led him to become the Associate Director of the Montserrat Coalition, where he found his true calling supporting first generation and high financial need students. Jeremiah poured his heart into mentoring young people, ensuring they felt seen, valued, and capable of achieving their dreams. Helping others was not just part of his work — it was the core of who he was.

Jeremiah embraced life with enthusiasm and a spirit of adventure. He loved football, both as a player and a lifelong fan, and he loved fishing, whether casting a line into the ocean or spending quiet mornings by a freshwater lake. He loved coaching Matteo and Angelina’s sports teams or just cheering loudly from the sidelines. He cherished traveling with his family, exploring new places, and creating memories that will be held close forever. The beach was his sanctuary, and he found joy in gardening and caring for plants, nurturing life in every form. Jeremiah had a gift for bringing people together. He was the life of the party, always the first on the dance floor and the last to leave it. His laughter was contagious, his presence uplifting, and his ability to brighten someone’s day unmatched. He was truly one in a million, and everyone who knew him felt blessed to have been part of his world.

Faith was a guiding force throughout Jeremiah’s life. Raised in the Baptist tradition at Myrtle Baptist Church in Newton, he learned early the values of compassion, service, and community. After meeting Michele, they continued their spiritual journey together within the Catholic Church, becoming active members of St. Bridget Parish in Framingham. In April 2025, Jeremiah was selected to embark on a pilgrimage of healing to Lourdes, France. He and Michele spent a week immersed in prayer, reflection, and the quiet beauty of the sacred site. The journey brought deep peace and renewal as they navigated the challenges of Jeremiah’s health, offering comfort and grace during a difficult time.

Jeremiah faced his illness, an aggressive metastatic prostate cancer, with extraordinary courage, grace, and unwavering hope. He met every challenge with resilience and a smile that never dimmed. He refused to let his diagnosis define him, continuing to live with intention, joy, and deep love for his family, faith, and community. His positivity lifted those around him and became a testament to the strength of his spirit.

Jeremiah is survived by his wife Michele, his children Matteo and Angelina, his parents Richard and Helen, and his brother Ashley and his wife Emilie (Cenatiempo), along with his nephew Calvin. He is also survived by countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family who loved him dearly. He was predeceased by his grandparents Matthew and Lillie Jefferson of Newton, MA, and Silas and Pearl Fisher of Tampa, FL.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jeremiah’s life at a wake on July 17 from 3–7 PM at Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington Street, Newton, MA02465. A funeral service will be held on July 18 at 12 PM at Myrtle Baptist Church, 21 Curve Street, Newton, MA, followed by interment in Newton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support Jeremiah’s family through their GoFundMe or to the Mass General Cancer Center - Genitourinary Cancer Research Fund
