Joseph S. Breitfelder, of Wellesley Hills, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025 after a valiant, years-long battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Y. Breitfelder, and a blended family of his beloved children, Lauren B. Breitfelder (with first wife Katherine Wright-Breitfelder), Cassandra R. Cuddy, and Benjamin A. Cuddy.
Born in Toledo, Ohio on August 4,1957, Joseph was the son of Alice L. (Skomil) and Edward A. Breitfelder. Joseph is also survived by his nephew, Justin Breitfelder (Heather), his niece, Rachel Sadlock (Chris) and his sister-in-law, Michelle Breitfelder. He is predeceased by his brothers, Edward Breitfelder and Stephen Breitfelder.
Joseph "Joe" was a CPA with an MBA from Suffolk University and a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting from the University of Toledo. He was a highly experienced investment professional with extensive knowledge of investment markets and strategies. Beginning in 1991, he had a long and wonderful career with the investment consulting firm, NEPC. As part owner and one of the original employees, he was influential in driving growth from a small boutique firm of eight people to a top industry leader with over 300 employees providing investment consulting to over 350 clients with over $1.0 trillion in assets. Prior to NEPC, Joe was a Senior Treasury Manager at EG&G, now part of Perkin, Elmer, Inc. where he was responsible for investing a $50 million portfolio of preferred stocks.
After retiring, Joe pursued his hobbies of golf, curling, and traveling and he deeply valued time spent with his family and friends. Joe also took a position as Board Director at the Charles River Center in Needham, MA, a nonprofit human service agency providing employment and job training, residential homes, day habilitation, and recreational programs for children and adults with developmental disabilities. He also volunteered as Chair of the Finance and Investment Committee at the Broomstone's Curling Club in Wayland where he helped shape the club's financial policies.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, February 18th from 4-7PM in the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, Wellesley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charles River Center at
