Obituary

Kathryn M. "Kathy" Farrell, a lifelong resident of Newton, Massachusetts, passed away  surrounded by the love of her family. Though Newton was always home, Kathy also cherished time spent in  Quechee, VT and more recently Naples, Florida, where she delighted in warm days and, most especially, her favorite sunsets.

Kathy loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever. She loved her grandchildren, her husband ,"the girls" and everyone's pets dearly. An enthusiastic traveler, she explored the world with joy and curiosity, visiting destinations such as Bermuda, Hawaii, Ireland, London, Paris, and Italy. Wherever she went, Kathy could be found capturing countless photographs, preserving moments both big and small.

She was a long-time and dedicated employee of both The Gap and Gleason's Flowers, where her reliability and warm spirit were deeply valued. A voracious reader, Kathy always had the latest and best book recommendations at the ready, eager to share a good story with others.

Above all, Kathy was a devoted Nana. She was famously present at her grandchildren's sporting events, always showing up—no matter how far the drive—to offer encouragement and love. A dedicated friend and relative to so many, she had a remarkable gift for making time for others and was unfailingly thoughtful and considerate of everyone's needs.

Kathy also gave generously to her community, supporting many local charities. She took particular joy in donating children's gifts to her church during the holidays and in supporting animal programs in need. Kathy will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 53 years, Thomas M. Farrell; her brother Paul McLaughlin and wife Chris, her daughters, Beth Farrell, Kelly Salem and husband Andy; and her cherished grandchildren, Zach Ferguson and wife Meg, Erin Dubis and wife Erica, Tommy, Carter and Charlie Salem. She was a proud great-grandmother to Remington and Colt Dubis as well as an Aunt to her much loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents James and Catherine McLaughlin and siblings Betty McLaughlin, Stella Quinn, Jean Warner and Sonny McLaughlin.

Kathy's warmth, compassion, and quiet joy for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
