Obituary

Laura A. (Ross) Caruso, lovingly known as Laurie, passed away on October 30, 2026, at the age of 71.

Born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts, Laurie lived a life defined by strength, courage, generosity, and an extraordinary love for her family. She was a woman who lived each day to the fullest, believed in never sweating the small stuff, and always found room for one more person at her table.

Laurie was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. Whether hosting family dinners, preparing holiday meals, sharing stories, or simply spending time with her grandchildren, she had a special way of bringing everyone together. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, and her food was made with the same love and care she gave so freely to everyone in her life. No one ever left her table hungry, and no one ever had to wonder whether they were welcome.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, hosting holidays, and making memories with her grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. Laurie also dedicated many years of service to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT).

Above all, Laurie will be remembered for her incredible strength and courage. She faced life with determination and a spirit that could not be measured. She was the person others could count on, the one who took care of everyone, and the one who reminded those around her what truly mattered. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, caring daughter, sister, and loyal friend. Her generosity knew no limits, and her home and heart were always open.

Laurie leaves behind her beloved husband, Rob; her daughter, Taryn, and son-in-law, Justen; and her cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Joseph, and Noah, who were the light of her life. She also leaves behind her mother, Laura; her sisters, Lenor and husband John, Lisa and husband Greg, her brothers, Mark and wife Meg and John; her Goddaughters, Courtney and Emma; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.

She was predeceased by her father, John.

Though her absence leaves an unimaginable space in the hearts of those who loved her, the memories she created, the traditions she passed down, and the love she gave so effortlessly will live on forever.

Laurie taught everyone around her that life wasn't about sweating the small stuff. It was about loving fiercely, showing up for one another, gathering around the table, and making the most of every moment.

There will always be room for one more at her table, and there will always be a place for Laurie in our hearts.

She will be missed beyond words and loved beyond measure.

Visiting hours will be held at the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, West Newton, Sunday, November 15, 2026 from 12-2:30PM concluding with a prayer service and remembrance at 2:30.
