FITCHBURG, MA- We are sad to announce that our brother, Lee Bourque, passed away at his home in
Fitchburg, Massachusetts on November 2, 2024. He was 75.
Lee was born in Lewiston, Maine to the late Joseph and Irene (St. Sauveur) Bourque. He was the third of
four brothers, Richard, Paul and Peter and two sisters Janice and Annette Bourque, an uncle to Ryan,
Christine, John-Paul, Alex, Olivia, and Elycia, and a great uncle to Griffin, Weston and Odeya.
Lee attended St. Dominic Regional High School, and later graduated from Lewiston High School. Soon
thereafter, he joined the Army Reserves and received a diploma in Medical Laboratory Procedures from
the U.S. Army Medical Field Service School. This led him to seek higher education and graduated from the
University of New Hampshire with a BA degree in General Studies, later a MA degree in Psychology from
California State University, Los Angeles. Over the years, he traveled around New England, Georgia and
Alabama, spent time as a social worker, and eventually located in California where he created his own
landscaping business and offered therapy and consultation services. After many years in California, he
moved back to New England and settled in Fitchburg, Massachusetts where he was the owner of several
commercial properties.
From an early age, Lee was always quite inquisitive about the meaning of life, deeply examining its
purpose and his own connection to nature. He lived a simple life and always enjoyed talking and sharing
life experiences with family and friends. He retained a close affinity for Lewiston where he had been a
paper boy, worked at a pizza shop, and even sold stainless steel cookware and glass stemware for the
brides-to-be. Lee enjoyed expanding his life experiences as a youth with special trips visiting close family
friends out of state. We will never forget how proud he was to own his very first car, a Thunderbird, and
how pleased he was to be able to drive our mother to visit our father when he was in the hospital. Lee
enjoyed playing school hockey, along with practicing and having scrimmages on the ice rink we would
build in our backyard every winter and where he got to teach his sister Janice to ice skate.
For all these times and more, Lee will be remembered at a Visitation/Memorial Service at Burke and
Blackington Funeral Home in West Newton, Massachusetts on Saturday, December 14 from 12-2pm. His
internment will be a private service held later in the spring at St. Peter's Cemetery in Lewiston, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Androscoggin Land Trust;

.
An organization that helps to protect the Androscoggin River and Garcelon Bog, which he would often
explore with his brothers as children near their home. It would be a wonderful way to remember him.
