Obituary

Leland Austin "Bud" Murphy, a lifelong resident of Wellesley, passed away August 29, 2021 at the age of 96.
He was born and raised in Wellesley to the late Leland A. and late Julia (Doyle) Murphy. Leland worked for several years as a Heavy Machine Operator at General Motors in Framingham and was a member of the United Auto Workers. He served in the United States Army as a Medic during WWII, received the Bronze Star Medal for his service and stayed with the Army Reserve and again into active duty before being discharged as a Sergeant in 1951.
While in Germany, he met his wife of over 60 years, Charlotte (Wolff) Murphy who passed away in 2007. They lived in Wellesley raising 5 children.
Leland loved to tinker in his garage, fixing items or doing projects. He was also an avid sports fan of all the Boston Teams.
He is survived by his children, Charlotte A. Grady and her husband David of Ashland, Audrey J. Felt of Natick, Barbara M. Pini and her husband Jack of Ashland, Karen Gildawie and her husband George of Millis and Leland P. Murphy and his wife Adriana of Acton. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service was held on Thursday September 2, 2021 in the Henry J. Burke and Sons Funeral Home, Wellesley Hills. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham. Donations in Leland's memory may be made to The Jimmy Fund at www.jimmyfund.org
