Obituary

Curry, Leo D., of Newton and Little Compton, RI, September 17, 2017. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth S. (Faria) Curry. Devoted father of Carolyn Curry of Newton, Christopher D. Curry of Newton, Timothy F. Curry of Stoughton, Kevin and his wife Alexandra Curry of Millis. Dear brother of the late Francis, William, Robert, John, Charles and Albert Curry. Loving grandfather of Cheryl, Colleen, Leo, Paul, Alexis, Christina, Devlin, Steven, Sean, Brian, Brendan, Elizabeth, and great grandfather of Marius and Alice. Enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII, and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal, and the Good Conduct Metal. Leo was honorably discharged with the rank of Radioman First Class on January 31, 1946. Upon returning from Military Service, Leo joined the Newton Fire Department and retired as the Foreman of Signal Maintenance after 44 years of dedicated service. Funeral from the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St., (Rte. 16), West Newton, Friday, September 22 at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, 1321 Centre St., Newton Centre at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours Thursday evening from 4:00-8:00 PM. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made in Leo's memory to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
