Loreto A. Mazzola, 76, of Newton, MA, passed away on January 21, 2023.

Loreto was born on January 28, 1946, to Loreto and Lucia Mazzola of Newton, MA. After Loreto graduated from Newton Technical High School in 1964, he continued to study carpentry before being appointed to the Newton Fire Department in 1971. During his time with the Newton Fire Department, Loreto was promoted to Lieutenant
in 1981 and then promoted again to Captain in 1991. He later retired from the Fire Department in 2003.

Loreto is survived by his wife Andrea (Pellegrine) Mazzola of Newton, MA, his son Louis Mazzola, his wife Adrienne Mazzola and his two children, Emilee and Quinten Mazzola of Waltham, MA, and his son Frank Mazzola of Natick, MA. Loreto was predeceased by his sister Anna Rufo and her husband Gerardo Rufo of Newton, MA, his brother Joseph Mazzola of Waltham, MA. He is also survived by his brother Alfred Mazzola and his wife Marie Mazzola of Newton, MA and his sister-in-law Joanne Mazzola of Yarmouth, MA

Visiting hours will be held at Burke & Blackington Funeral Home of West Newton on Thursday, January 26th from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, January 27th at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St, Newton, at 10:30am, followed by interment in Newton Cemetery.
