Margaret "Maggie" (McGrath) Mahan, lifelong resident of Newton, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at the age of 86. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Mahan, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.

Maggie was the loving mother of Michael Mahan and his wife Lisa, and Daniel Mahan and his wife Cheri, and the proud grandmother of Shane and Brody Mahan. Born in Auburndale, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Jessica (McNeil) McGrath and sister to the late Patricia Harrington, Jerome, John, and Robert McGrath. She is survived by her brother Richard McGrath and many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A graduate of Newton North High School and nursing school, Maggie dedicated her life to caring for others. Known for her kindness, humor, and Irish spirit, she cherished her family, her dogs, her love of reading, and her circle of friends known as "The Puppy People."

Her family takes comfort knowing she is reunited with her husband Ed and her loved ones in heaven.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St., West Newton. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the MSPCA–Angell (Boston) or a charity of your choice.
