Marjorie “Margie” Mahoney, 85 of Waltham, MA, passed away peacefully under hospice care at Newton Wellesley Hospital on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Her son and daughter were with her.
Margie was born and raised in Watertown, MA and lived in West Newton, MA and Waltham, MA with her husband and children.
For many years, she was employed by New England Transformer and by the City of Newton’s Parks and Recreation Department. She greatly enjoyed assisting and attending their senior trips.
Margie and her husband loved spending their summers in Marshfield, MA and winter time in Treasure Island, FL, sharing time and creating fond memories year after year with family and friends.
Margie’s family, friendships and faith meant the world to her. Those who knew her would describe her as a loving and caring soul.
Marjorie was the beloved daughter of the late John and Mary (McHugh) Murray, the wife of her late husband and the love of her life, Francis “Franny” Mahoney, the mother of the late Francis Mahoney, Jr. and the sister of the late Jack Murray, the late Thomas Murray (her twin), and the late Mae Wackrow (Murray).
Marjorie is survived by her son, Shawn Mahoney of Chelsea, MA, her daughter, Kelley Mahoney, of Framingham, MA, her cherished granddaughter, Haley Rose Marino of Waltham, MA; nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friends. Both children were her devoted caregivers in her final years.
A Funeral Service in Celebration of Marjorie Mahoney’s Life will be held at Corpus Christi - St. Bernard Parish, 1523 Washington Street, West Newton, MA on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Visiting hour will be held from 10-11AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11AM. An interment will follow at Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown, MA.
