Maureen J. Byrne, beloved eldest daughter of William E. and Kathleen (O'Connor) Byrne, passed away peacefully on July 4th, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old.
Maureen was a cherished sister to Kathleen Elias and her husband George and Sheila Merrick and her husband Tom. She was predeceased by her brothers William P. Byrne and his wife Marianne and Sean F. Byrne and his wife Cheryl, and sister Ann Adams and husband William.
Maureen will be lovingly remembered as an aunt to Robin Berry, William C. Byrne (predeceased) and his wife Erica, Wendy Byrne, Chris Byrne and his wife Cathy, Heather Gresham and her husband Brian, Rachel Elias, Caroline Elias, Matthew Elias and wife Denise, Todd Merrick, Brendan Merrick, Michael Adams, and Sheryl Adams. She also leaves behind many great nieces and nephews who brought her immense joy.
Family was the cornerstone of Maureen's life, and she dedicated herself to their well-being. Her kindness and generosity were boundless, and she was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. Maureen took great pride in her Irish heritage and cherished her visits to Ireland to connect with family and friends. She lived her entire life in Newton Upper Falls, MA where she was a staple of the community.
Maureen had a long and distinguished career at John Hancock, where she was respected for her professionalism and admired for her impeccable sense of fashion and style. Her elegance and grace made a lasting impression on all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 10:30AM at Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Parish, Newton Upper Falls followed by interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, July 10th from 5-7PM at the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, West Newton.
In honoring Maureen's memory, her family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
