Nancy Maria Rehkamp, D.D.S., passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025 in Boston, Massachusetts at the age of 68. Born to George and Alma Rehkamp, she grew up in Baldwin Harbor and Mill Neck, Long Island, New York.
Nancy graduated from Sacred Heart Seminary and Locust Valley High School. She became a U.S. Figure Skating Association gold test medalist representing the Skating Club of New York, and went on to coach competitive figure skaters.
After earning her B.A. in biology from Barnard College in 1978 and graduating from the New York University College of Dentistry in 1984, Dr. Rehkamp served as a commissioned officer of the National Health Service Corps treating low-income families. In private practice, she derived special satisfaction from serving union workers and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Later in life, Dr. Rehkamp moved to Falmouth, Cape Cod and then Boston to be closer to family. "Aunt Nancy" loved sharing time with her adoring nieces and nephews, who appreciated her kind and calm demeanor. She was regularly present at their birthdays, school assemblies, performances, exhibits, and athletic competitions. Her unwavering support extended beyond her family as she advocated at public hearings for healthcare and public safety improvements, and for the support of veterans in need. She enjoyed playing the piano, especially sonatas by Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms, and she took delight in attending patriotic parades.
Nancy is survived by her loving family: sisters Regina Rehkamp Ketting and Marlene Rehkamp O'Brien; brothers-in-law Jaap Ketting and Duncan Thomas O'Brien; and nephews and nieces Duncan Thomas O'Brien, Jr. and his wife, Halie LeSavage, Justin Rehkamp O'Brien, Regina Rehkamp O'Brien, Juliana Maria Ketting, and Conrad Jaap Ketting.
The Funeral Mass for Nancy was held on June 14, Flag Day, at Saint John the Evangelist Church in Wellesley, Massachusetts, with her brother-in-law Rev. Paul Bradshaw O'Brien and Msgr. J. Bryan Hehir as celebrants. Those wishing to honor Nancy's memory may consider donating to the American Red Cross at
