Nina Brothwell, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday evening following a brief illness.
Born in 1930 and raised in Newton, Massachusetts, Nina lived a life marked by love, strength, and devotion to her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert L. Brothwell, a World War II veteran. Together they built a loving family and shared many happy years filled with friendship, dancing, and community involvement.
Nina was predeceased by her husband, Robert, as well as her son, Robert L. “Bobby” Brothwell, and daughter, Cheryl Brothwell. Despite enduring the profound loss of her husband and both of her children, she carried on with remarkable grace and resilience.
After the loss of her husband and son, Nina moved from her longtime home in Newton to Waltham, where she continued to build friendships and remain close to family. She was known for her warm smile, independent spirit, and her ability to make others feel welcome.
Nina and her husband were proud lifetime members of the Lexington Elks Lodge, where they enjoyed dancing, socializing, and spending time with friends. She treasured family gatherings and especially enjoyed watching her family grow through the generations.
She is survived by her loving grandchildren, Carrie-Ann Brothwell, Brandon Brothwell, Robert Echteler, and Cristen Linehan, as well as seven cherished great-grandchildren. She leaves behind many relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Nina’s life was a testament to perseverance, love, and family. She will be remembered for her strength in the face of adversity, her caring heart, and the joy she found in spending time with those she loved.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
