Patricia Margaret Dunnigan

Dec 10, 1954 — Jul 15, 2026

Patricia M. "Patty" Dunnigan, 72, passed away on July 15, 2026, with her husband Jack by her side.

Born in Waltham and raised in Newton, MA, Patty was a long-time resident of Natick, MA. Patty began caring for patients in a neighborhood nursing home as a young teenager. She graduated from St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing in Brighton in 1975 and went on to build a career caring for others, spending 40 years in the cardiology unit at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. Patty was always the first person to step in when someone needed help, and a fierce advocate for the people she loved. She was particularly fond of caring for the elderly

She was the beloved wife of Jack Dunnigan, loving mother of Julie Hendricks and Ryan Dunnigan, cherished mother-in-law of Ben Hendricks and Jen Dunnigan, and devoted Nana to Whitney and Luke Hendricks, who brought her tremendous joy. She was a loving sister of and is survived by Maureen Snipes and Mary Ann Wilson, along with many nieces and nephews, whom she adored.

Family was at the center of Patty's life, from the care she gave as a daughter to the love she instilled in her children and the hours she spent volunteering time to their activities. Outside of her family, she found joy in reading, walking endless miles, and long lunches with family and friends. Once she and Jack became empty nesters, the two of them took to exploring new cities together and creating new adventures.

Patty will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her. Although she battled dementia at the end of her life for 12 years, her smile, gentle heart, and kind nature always shone through.

She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories that her family and friends will carry with them always.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Joan O'Halloran; her brothers, Richie and Philip O'Halloran; and her sister, Cheryl O'Halloran.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends and family make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.
