R David Rauh died on August 13th after grappling with a number of illnesses, always with good spirits. He spoke fondly of his childhood summers in Maine, and winter vacations with his grandparents in Florida. David graduated from Andover High School, Class of 1961, where he earned the Harvard Book Prize. He attended Bowdoin College, Class of 1965, and was a member of Delta Sigma. David earned his PhD in Chemistry at Princeton, and went on to a long and successful career at EIC Laboratories, from which he retired as President in 2012. He authored over 100 scholarly publications, and many research grants in applied chemistry and advanced materials, as well as mentoring a number of young scientists.

In addition to David’s love of science, he had a quick wit, was widely read, played the guitar, and correctly answered most Jeopardy questions. He was a very caring and gentle person who was dedicated to his wife, Roberta and son, Joshua. David was especially proud of his son, who also won the Harvard Book Prize thirty years later at The Roxbury Latin School.

David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Roberta, his son Joshua (Viki), his adored granddaughters, Samantha and Lydia, (and their mother, Carolyn Carlson), niece Tracey Rauh, nephew, Nicholas Rauh, and many friends who appreciated both his intellect and kind demeanor. He was predeceased by his parents, Bob and Agnes (Geris) Rauh, and his half brother, Herb Rauh.

We are beyond grateful to many professionals and care givers for their expertise and caring, including William Holgerson, MD, Albert Hung, MD, Rachel Zalvan, LICSW/MPH, Tami DeAngelis, PT/DPT, Ronnie Ssebyala, Frank Matovu, and Ben Collette, and so many others.

Please remember him with kindness and grace.
