Obituary

Richard "Charlie" Charles Gilley was born in Cambridge, MA on March 4, 1951 and passed away on December 9, 2021 at the age of 70.

Charlie grew up in Newton, MA and enjoyed playing football and baseball in his youth.

He was a member of the Massachusetts National guard from 1969-1975.

Charlie was an Ironworker, past member of Local 7, following in his dad's footsteps. He lived in many different parts of the country, including Colorado, N. Dakota, and Texas, and worked on the oil rigs there, before returning to Newton.

Charlie always loved to tell a joke and make people laugh. He also loved to sing, and back in the day could have been found at the karaoke nights down the lake. He was avid sports fan and he could talk about the Patriots endlessly, and enjoyed playing golf with his brothers and friends.

Charlie had a passion for gardening and loved to grow pumpkins for all his nieces and nephew.

He was a loving son and caregiver of his parents for many years and was loved by so many family, cousins and friends. He will be missed.

Charlie is survived by his niece Maroby Walls, brothers, Tom Gilley and his wife Tricia, daughter Caitlin,
George Gilley and his wife Kim, son Brandon, daughters Jessica Ranahan and husband Dan, Melissa Therrien and husband Tom. He also has 2 grand nieces, Mackenzie and Maggie. Also devoted dear friend Kristen Bellevue.

Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Charles "Dick" and Mary Gilley and his sister Deborah Gilley.
