Robert Howard Becker

Robert Howard Becker, 96, of Vienna, Virginia, died peacefully surrounded by family on September 23, 2026 at an assisted living facility in Newton, Massachusetts.

Bob was born on March 12, 1930 to Henry and Anna Becker in Queens, New York. He married Catherine “Cathy” Becker in 1953, and they had two daughters. They moved to Washington, D.C. to rural upstate New York, and then back to the Washington area, settling into their home of over fifty years in Vienna, Virginia.

He attended City College of New York and Yale Law School. He began his law career working for the FDA in Washington, D.C, then moving to upstate New York to work for Norwich Pharmaceuticals/Eaton Laboratories. In 1969 Bob moved his family to Vienna, Virginia and worked at his firm, Kleinfeld, Kaplan and Becker in Washington, D.C., specializing in Food and Drug Law.

He is survived by his two daughters, Lesley Becker of Burlington, Vermont, and Barbara Maietta (Chris Maietta) of Wayland, Massachusetts, and by his sister Doris Onken of Newburyport, Massachusetts; and five grandchildren, Ceora Jaffe (Kevin Junker) of Arlington, Massachusetts, Hailley Becker of Portland, Oregon, Sarah Maietta (Nico Robertson) of Watertown, Massachusetts, Kate Maietta of New Haven, Connecticut, and Christopher Maietta of Wayland, Massachusetts, and a great-grandchild, Olivia Elizabeth Jaffe.

He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Becker, and his brother, Henry Becker, and parents Henry and Anna Becker.

A family memorial is planned for November 7th in Andover, Massachusetts.
