Robert D. "Bob" Sheehan, Jr., of Whitehaven, Maryland, formerly of Wellesley, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026.
Born in Boston and raised in Wellesley, Massachusetts, Bob had a lifelong love of family and friends. He was an avid golfer, boater, and passionate Red Sox fan.
Prior to his retirement, Bob enjoyed a distinguished career with AT&T, rising to the position of Senior Vice President. He received numerous professional honors and awards and was actively involved with many philanthropic organizations. Bob was recognized by the American Cancer Society and WLIW Public Television for the charitable contributions and community service efforts of both he and his team. Bob attended Boston College and completed executive leadership programs at Yale University and other prestigious institutions. An accomplished golfer, he also had the opportunity to participate in several pro-am tournaments throughout the years, including events at Augusta and Pebble Beach.
Following his retirement, Bob served as President of the Whitehaven Heritage Association and remained actively involved in its work until the time of his passing, and a member of Green Hill Country Club, Whitehaven.
Bob is survived by his beloved son, Daniel Robert Sheehan of West Harrison, New York, who brought him his greatest pride and joy. He was predeceased by his mother, Rose (Kiley) Sheehan, and is survived by his father, Robert D. Sheehan, Sr.
He is also survived by his sister, Rosemary (Sheehan) Morse and her husband, Eric, of Phippsburg, Maine; his sister, Regina (Sheehan) Leonard and her husband, Paul, of Hingham; and his brother, Richard Sheehan and his wife, Solveig (Tveite), of Weymouth. He is survived by his companion, BettyAnn Colombo; his former spouses Catharine (Rowles) Sullivan; Deirdre Catucci, the mother of Daniel; and as well as many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many kind and compassionate caregivers at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital for their care and support, especially the teams in the MICU, SICU, and Emergency Department.
Funeral services will be held from the Burke Funeral Home, 56 Washington Street, Wellesley Hills, on Saturday, September 19. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, Wellesley Hills, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow. The funeral Mass will be livestreamed at St. John Livestream
