Obituary

Mura, Colonel Ronald A., U.S.A.R. (Ret.), of Wellesley, died on October 2, 2017, at the age of 87.

He was the beloved husband of Phyllis L. Mura for 64 years. The son of Michael and Mary (Brochi), he was born in Somerville, Mass., and grew up in Brighton.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served two tours of duty, the second as an officer. He was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in action. After the war, he began a long career in the Army Reserve, most of which was spent in the Corps of Engineers. He also worked for many years at New England Telephone.

After retiring, one of his favorite pursuits was spending time with friends at the Book Exchange and Take & Leave areas at the Wellesley Recycling Center. He was an avid supporter of the small library in Vershire, Vermont, over the years sending them hundreds of books and other
useful items.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Ronald and daughter-in-law Denise, his daughter Karen, his son Douglas, and his daughter Andrea. He also leaves his grandchildren: Marita, Silvia, Cathy, Eric, and Jake. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister and brother, and an infant son.
