Obituary

We are heartbroken to share that our dear sweet, Rosa Elisabeth Walker "Rosie" passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 10, 2024. She was 26 years old. She leaves her parents, Carol Walker, Amy Hadley, and Cindy Orrell; her sisters Maya Walker, Caroline Cox-Orrell, and Jing Cox-Orrell; her niece Kimaya Gordon; and her grandfather Bill Spencer "Papa." She also leaves many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Rosie loved to laugh and to make others laugh. She had a keen ear for puns and wordplay. Her vocabulary was expansive and she spontaneously linked ideas together. When she was three she exclaimed one day: "There are 3 kinds of 'we'; we, wee and wheeeee." She once told one of her friend's mother (who was a great cook) that she had a "cooking thumb" - relating it to a "green thumb" for gardeners.

She was curious about the world and often chose projects to pursue independently. One day she decided to make marshmallows, having researched the recipe online. They were the best marshmallows ever! She went through a cheesemaking phase where we had to buy a 25 pound weight to press the curds. She learned to sew and made several dresses and skirts, as well as stuffed toys.

She was an amazing artist. She worked tirelessly on learning perspective One of her greatest achievements was a human figure riding on a horse running straight forwards.

Rosie had a remarkable imagination and was full of creativity. She told elaborate stories about Colbyville, Jonathan and Smarty, and Wesley and Tiger when she went on walks with her parents. She learned, among other things, about how an economy can work through telling those stories. She was a great reader and wonderful writer. She loved mathematics.

Rosie had an affinity for nature. She learned flower names and encouraged her parents in gardening. She helped grow an avocado tree that is about 5 feet tall now. She loved walks in wooded areas and big fields. She knew the names of many birds and animals. She also knew many fish species and enjoyed many fishing trips. She once caught a wolf fish, which delighted her!

Rosie, we love you so much and always will.
