Ruth Ann DeVito (Scannell) of Waltham, formerly of Newton and York ME, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023, at the age of 96.

Beloved wife of the late Francis M. DeVito and loving mother of F. Michael Jr. and his wife Lisa of Wakefield RI, Nancy A. Witham and husband Bruce of Pacific Grove CA, Patricia C. Williams and husband Stephen of York ME, Ellen I. Howe and husband Stephen of Woburn, Constance M. DeVito and husband Steven Kontoff of Lexington, Mary E. Caira and husband Jerry of Auburndale, and Catherine A. Corbett and husband Gerard of Needham. Devoted grandmother of Kerry, Sarah, Alayna, Troy, Kelsey, Julie, Angela, Timothy, Francis, John, Kyle, Collin and great grandmother of Llewyn, Finn, Boone, Frye, Caroline, Paige and Morgan.

She was the dear sister of the late Francis Scannell, Edward Scannell, Sr. Irene Scannell and Mary Gavin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 10AM in St. Bernard Parish, 1523 Washington St. West Newton followed by interment in St, Mary's Cemetery, Needham. Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 4-7PM in the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St. West Newton.

Flowers are welcome and may be sent to the funeral home. Donations in Ruth's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
