Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sarah Elizabeth Snow Wilfert, aged 46, on July 28, 2024, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston MA. Sarah left us peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with breast cancer.

Sarah was born on February 26, 1978, in Framingham, MA to parents Jack and Peggy Snow. She grew up in Holden and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1996. Sarah continued her successful academic career at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), where she earned her bachelor of science with high distinction in Industrial Engineering and Business Management. This education was then used to pursue Management Consulting and Technical Program Management at Andersen Consulting, Microsoft, MathWorks, and Snow Consulting, which she founded.

Sarah was a devoted loving wife to her husband Nathan Wilfert for 22 years. Their love story began in London, England, where both worked with a nonprofit study abroad program. They started their life together in Seattle, Washington, where they welcomed their beloved children, Lily and Ridge. They crafted a life together that consisted of traveling abroad, vacationing on Cape Cod, skiing in Vermont, participating in local communities, and enjoying gatherings of family and friends. We will always remember the delight she took in watching her children grow, the pleasure she took in the great outdoors whether hiking, skiing, swimming, or sailing, and the skillful planning abilities she employed to organize homes, events, holiday parties, and her health care.

A passionate community builder, Sarah was actively involved in numerous organizations: the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, the Tau Beta Pi honor society, First Parish Church youth ministry volunteer, Board Member of the Quechee Alpine Ski Club, and was Wellesley High School Alpine Ski Team Double Black Diamond President, and various other parent organizations.

Her commitment to improving her community and helping others was evident in all she did, and she left behind a legacy of kindness and service. The love and support she gave out to others will always be felt. She was a champion for other women battling breast cancer, and her encouraging words will stay with them forever.

Sarah is survived by her husband Nathan Wilfert and their children Lily and Ridge. She is survived by her parents, Peggy and Jack Snow; her sister, Jennifer Paharik, and Jennifer's husband, Matthew; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special mention has to be made of Jackson, her constant furry companion that she rescued, who made clandestine visits to her bedside at MGH.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who cared for her over the years. Additionally, the family extends thanks to Sarah's friends and family members who helped care for her these last several months.
