Susan Vincent Lawrence Volkmar died in her sleep in Newton, Massachusetts, June 27, 2022. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 1, 1951. She grew up in Bethesda, Maryland. She was a 1972 graduate of St. John's College of Annapolis and Santa Fe, and later earned a master's degree at Howard University School of Divinity. A freelance medical writer for many years in Washington, DC, she previously worked at the American College of Physicians in Philadelphia. She is survived by her daughter, Alice Bradford Volkmar, of Manchester, NH; a brother, Pope A. Lawrence Jr. of Merced, California; and a sister, Elizabeth (Betsy) Lawrence Howard of Lebanon, NH. She was predeceased by her former husband, Peter Volkmar, in May 2021.
