William E. (Bill) Charlton of Wellesley and Wayland, passed away at home surrounded by his family on November 27, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Ann (Grimm). Bill was raised in Queens and was a proud graduate of Adelphi University. He and Barbara embarked on a great adventure early in their marriage, towing a trailer across the country. On the way, they were joined by their first son Bill (Joanne Kasper-Dunne) and on their way back east by their daughter Beth (Randy Roy). Settling back on the east coast they welcomed their youngest, Craig (Dawn Young). Bill is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Bill, Curtis, Eric, and Brian Charlton, and Katie and Alex Roy, brother-in-law Barry Grimm (Beverly), and dear friends Urs and Ursula Trautmann.
Bill enjoyed his career, working at GE, Honeywell, and Bull in many senior and executive roles. He spent much of his retirement traveling and volunteering his knowledge and skills in the Wellesley town government. His happiest place was his cottage on a lake in Maine, where he could spend time with his family, work in his garden, swim, water ski, and enjoy nature. The family also would like to extend their immense gratitude to his care providers Tawana, Catherine, and Bernadette, and to all the staff from Home Helpers and Good Shepherd Hospice, who provided him with compassionate love and attention.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 form 2-4PM in the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, Wellesley.
