William P. Proia of Spring Hill FL and Harwich MA, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the age of 87 after a brief illness. William, fondly known as Bill, Billy and Poppy was born and raised and lived most of his life in Newton, He was the son of the late Sossio and Mary Proia. He was the husband of the late Gloria (Costanzo) Proia, his wife of 56 years. He was predeceased by his daughter Diana Romeo. He is survived by his daughter Deborah Klier and her husband KC of Sagamore Beach and his daughter Donna Proia of Spring Hill, FL He also leaves behind his five grandchildren, Katrina Klier, Alexandra Klier, Jessica Andreosatos and her husband Alex, Matthew Klier and Shannon Romeo; great grandson Julian; his sister Elaine Scichilone and brother Stephen Proia and his wife Judy and many nieces and nephews.

He was a dedicated, hardworking, family man. Everything he did was for family and friends, always lending a helping hand. Mr. Proia was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.

Visiting hour will be held Tuesday, October 10th from Noon to 1PM in the Burke & Blackingotn Funeral Home, West Newton, concluding with a prayer service at 1PM and followed by interment in Newton Cemetery.
